COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce / Information Systems at UNSW is a double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 192 Units of Credit (UOC). Although the individual degrees normally total more credit points, overlap in first-year business courses reduces the overall requirement, making the combined program more efficient. The Commerce component contributes 96 UOC, which includes 48 UOC of Integrated First-Year courses that build a foundation in business, analytics, economics, and problem-solving. Students then choose a Commerce major and complete a prescribed Work Integrated Learning course, along with a Final Year Synthesis project that integrates their learning and prepares them for professional practice. The Information Systems component requires 120 UOC but is reduced in practice due to overlapping first-year content. It includes 30 UOC of Business Core courses (satisfied through Commerce studies), 72 UOC of Information Systems core subjects, and 12 UOC of Information Systems prescribed electives. These courses focus on areas such as system design, data management, user experience, digital transformation, and business technology solutions. A Work Integrated Learning course is also included to provide real-world industry experience. Overall, this double degree equips students with a strong combination of business knowledge and technical IT skills, preparing them for careers in information systems, consulting, data analytics, digital transformation, and technology-driven business roles across global industries.
