COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design / Commerce at UNSW is a four-year double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 192 Units of Credit (UOC), with 96 UOC from the Bachelor of Design and 96 UOC from the Bachelor of Commerce. In the Commerce component, students complete Integrated First Year business courses that build a strong foundation in areas such as finance, marketing, economics, management, and business analytics. They also choose a Commerce major to gain specialised knowledge in a particular business discipline and participate in career development activities and work-integrated learning opportunities. In the Design component, students develop creative, technical, and problem-solving skills through design-focused courses. They learn how to create innovative products, services, digital experiences, and design solutions that respond to real-world challenges. The design curriculum encourages creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and practical project work, helping students understand the entire design process from concept development to implementation. By combining business and design studies, students gain a unique blend of commercial awareness and creative expertise. This allows them to understand both how products and services are designed and how they can succeed in competitive markets. Overall, the degree prepares graduates for careers in design, innovation, product development, user experience, marketing, consulting, entrepreneurship, and business strategy across a wide range of industries.
