COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce / Advanced Science (Honours) at UNSW is a five-year double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 240 Units of Credit (UOC), combining 96 UOC from Commerce and 144 UOC from Advanced Science (Honours). In the Commerce component, students complete 48 UOC of Integrated First Year courses that build a foundation in business problem-solving and decision-making. They also engage with three non-credit bearing MyBCom elements, which help them plan their career, track progress, and build a professional portfolio. Students then choose one Commerce major, complete 6 UOC of Work Integrated Learning for industry experience, and finish with a Final Year Synthesis project. Business elective courses may also be taken if required. The MyBCom portfolio is a key feature of the degree, helping students develop a personalised career plan and showcase their skills and professional experiences to employers. In the Advanced Science (Honours) component, students complete two core research skills courses, one science major, and a science honours specialisation, along with additional science electives if needed. This part of the program focuses on scientific research, experimentation, and advanced problem-solving across fields such as biotechnology, chemistry, neuroscience, mathematics, and physics. Overall, the degree combines business and science training to prepare graduates for careers in consulting, data analytics, finance, research, and science-based industries.
