COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of City Planning (Honours) / Law at UNSW is a double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 312 Units of Credit (UOC). It combines studies from both City Planning (168 UOC) and Law (144 UOC), allowing students to gain expertise in urban development as well as legal systems. In the Law component, students complete 96 UOC of compulsory law courses that build a strong foundation in legal principles, reasoning, and the justice system. They also complete 6 UOC of prescribed law electives and 42 UOC of law elective courses, which allow them to specialise in areas such as land law, construction law, or other legal fields related to planning and development. In the City Planning (Honours) component, students complete 168 UOC of core planning courses, including 30 UOC of practical courses that provide real-world experience in urban planning projects and professional practice. These subjects cover areas such as sustainable development, land use planning, environmental planning, infrastructure, and urban design. The program structure ensures students develop both technical planning knowledge and strong legal understanding. Overall, this degree prepares graduates for careers in urban planning, property development, government policy, infrastructure planning, environmental regulation, and legal roles connected to land and construction, enabling them to shape sustainable and well-planned cities.
