COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Aviation (RPAS) at UNSW is a three-year full-time degree that requires students to complete a total of 144 Units of Credit (UOC). The program is structured into 126 UOC of core aviation courses, 6 UOC of prescribed electives, and 12 UOC of general education courses. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in aeronautical science, aviation transport economics, simulation and airworthiness management, human factors, communication skills for STEMM, mathematics, and statistics. The second year focuses on more advanced aviation and drone-related subjects such as commercial navigation, meteorology, air law, advanced human factors, instrument rating, drone imagery and sensing, drone information systems, and aviation research methods. In the third year, students study specialised and industry-focused topics including drone entrepreneurship, airline management, aviation safety and resource management, flight data analytics, and aviation research methods. They also choose one elective option such as human factors tools and methods, aviation work placement, or environmental performance evaluation of aviation. Additionally, students complete general education courses outside the Faculty of Science to broaden their academic learning. Overall, this program combines aviation science, drone technology, data analysis, and management skills, preparing graduates for careers in drone operations, aviation safety, logistics, analytics, and emerging unmanned aviation industries with strong practical and theoretical training.
