COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Laws at UNSW is a double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 240 Units of Credit (UOC) and is usually completed in five years of full-time study. It combines 144 UOC from the Bachelor of Laws and 96 UOC from the Bachelor of Arts. In the Law component, students complete 96 UOC of compulsory law courses that provide a strong foundation in legal principles, reasoning, and the justice system. They also complete 6 UOC of prescribed law electives, which cover specific legal topics, and 42 UOC of law elective courses that allow them to specialise in areas of interest such as criminal law, corporate law, or international law. In the Arts component, students complete either one major (48 UOC) and one minor (36 UOC) with 12 UOC of prescribed electives, or they can choose to complete two majors of 48 UOC each. This flexibility allows students to study areas such as humanities, social sciences, languages, media, or criminology alongside law. Overall, this program helps students develop strong legal knowledge together with broader critical thinking and communication skills from the arts, preparing them for careers in law, government, policy, international relations, and other fields requiring analytical and interdisciplinary expertise.
