COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) / Social Sciences at UNSW is a double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 240 Units of Credit (UOC), combining 144 UOC from Advanced Science (Honours) and 96 UOC from Social Sciences. In the Advanced Science (Honours) component, students complete two core research skills courses that develop strong scientific research and analytical abilities. They also choose one science major from areas such as psychology, mathematics, earth science, biotechnology, or other scientific fields, along with an optional minor. Students then complete a science honours specialisation, which provides advanced-level study and research training, and may also take additional science elective courses if needed to meet credit requirements. In the Social Sciences component, students complete one major in a social science discipline along with structured coursework that includes 12 UOC of Level 1 courses, 18 UOC of Level 2 courses, and 18 UOC of Level 3 courses. These subjects help students understand political systems, economics, society, international relations, and environmental issues. Overall, this program combines scientific knowledge with social science understanding, allowing students to develop both technical and analytical skills along with a strong understanding of society. Graduates are prepared for careers in policy, research, government, consulting, environmental work, and other fields that require interdisciplinary thinking.
