COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) / Law at UNSW is a six-year double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 288 Units of Credit (UOC), combining 144 UOC in Advanced Science (Honours) and 144 UOC in Law. In the Advanced Science (Honours) component, students complete two core research skills courses that develop scientific thinking and research abilities. They also choose one science major from areas such as mathematics, psychology, biotechnology, or environmental science, along with an optional minor. Students then complete a science honours specialisation, which provides advanced-level study and research experience, and may also take additional science elective courses if required to meet the credit structure. In the Law component, students complete 96 UOC of core law subjects that build a strong foundation in legal principles, systems, and reasoning. They also complete 6 UOC of prescribed theory electives that explore deeper legal concepts, and 42 UOC of law electives that allow them to specialise in areas of interest such as criminal law, corporate law, or international law. Overall, this program combines scientific knowledge with legal expertise, preparing graduates for careers in law, policy, regulation, environmental law, intellectual property, and other fields where science and legal systems intersect, requiring strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
