COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) / Fine Arts at UNSW is a double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 240 Units of Credit (UOC). It combines 144 UOC from Advanced Science (Honours) and 96 UOC from Fine Arts. In the Advanced Science (Honours) component, students complete two core research skills courses that build a strong foundation in scientific thinking and methodology. They also choose one science major from areas such as mathematics, psychology, biotechnology, earth science, or other scientific disciplines. Along with this, students may complete an optional minor and additional science elective courses if required to meet the credit structure. A key part of this degree is the science honours specialisation, which provides advanced-level study and research experience in the chosen scientific field. In the Fine Arts component, students complete 96 UOC in one fine arts specialisation, which may include areas such as animation and moving image, art theory, music, or visual arts. This part focuses on developing creative skills through practical studio work and theoretical study. Overall, the program blends scientific research with artistic practice, allowing students to develop both analytical and creative abilities. Graduates are prepared for careers in science, creative industries, media, education, research, and interdisciplinary fields that require innovation and diverse skill sets.
