COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) / Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) at UNSW is a six-year full-time double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 288 Units of Credit (UOC). It combines 144 UOC from Advanced Science (Honours) and 168 UOC from Engineering (Honours). In the Advanced Science (Honours) component, students complete core science courses (12 UOC), a science major (66–84 UOC), an honours stream (48 UOC), and additional science elective subjects, which can also be used to form a minor in a related field. This part focuses on developing strong scientific knowledge, research skills, and the ability to solve complex scientific problems. In the Engineering (Honours) component, students complete core engineering courses (30–42 UOC), introductory engineering knowledge courses (48 UOC), disciplinary and enquiry-based engineering courses (48 UOC), and engineering electives (12 UOC). The engineering part also includes 60 days of industrial training, giving students practical industry experience. Together, the program builds both deep scientific understanding and strong engineering design and problem-solving skills. Overall, this degree prepares graduates for careers in advanced engineering, technology, infrastructure, energy, research, and scientific innovation, equipping them to work on large-scale real-world challenges and contribute to developing future technologies and solutions.
