COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) / Computer Science at UNSW is a five-year full-time double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 240 Units of Credit (UOC). It combines 144 UOC from Advanced Science (Honours) and 96 UOC from Computer Science. In the Advanced Science (Honours) component, students complete core science courses (12 UOC), a chosen science major (66–84 UOC), an honours stream (48 UOC), and additional science elective subjects, which can also be used to form a minor in another science area. The honours component provides deeper research training and advanced-level study in a chosen scientific discipline. In the Computer Science component, students complete one major along with computer science elective courses that develop skills in programming, algorithms, artificial intelligence, software development, and data systems. The program is structured so that students gain both strong scientific knowledge and advanced computing expertise. If the selected science major and related courses do not add up to 144 UOC, students must take extra science electives to reach the required credit total. Overall, this degree prepares graduates for careers in technology, data science, artificial intelligence, research, healthcare, environmental science, and other science-driven industries where computing and advanced scientific knowledge are both essential.
