COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) / Bachelor of Arts at UNSW is a double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 240 Units of Credit (UOC). It combines 144 UOC from Advanced Science (Honours) and 96 UOC from Arts. In the Bachelor of Arts component, students complete either one major (48 UOC) and one minor (36 UOC) along with 12 UOC of prescribed electives, or they can choose to complete two majors (48 UOC each). This allows students to focus on humanities, social sciences, languages, creative arts, or business subjects depending on their interests. In the Advanced Science (Honours) component, students select at least one approved science major and complete core courses including SCIF1001 and SCIF2001, along with a 48 UOC honours year and additional science elective courses. The science part builds strong skills in research, analysis, and scientific problem-solving across fields such as biology, chemistry, mathematics, psychology, or environmental science. By combining science and arts, students develop both technical and creative thinking skills, making them highly adaptable. If students complete overlapping requirements before reaching 240 UOC, they must take additional electives to meet the total credit requirement. Overall, this program prepares graduates for diverse careers in science, education, research, policy, media, and other interdisciplinary fields.
