COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Actuarial Studies / Information Systems at UNSW is a double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 192 Units of Credit (UOC). It combines Actuarial Studies (96 UOC) and Information Systems (normally 120 UOC), but because some first-year business and mathematics courses overlap in both degrees, the total requirement is reduced by 24 UOC. In the Actuarial Studies part, students complete Level 1 core courses (48 UOC), Level 2 core courses (24 UOC), one Level 3 core course (6 UOC), and Level 3 actuarial electives (18 UOC). In the Information Systems part, students study business core courses (30 UOC), information systems core courses (72 UOC), and information systems electives (12 UOC). However, several business core subjects such as COMM1100, COMM1110, and COMM1190 are already covered through actuarial studies subjects like economics and mathematics in the first year, so students do not need to repeat them. The program also includes Work Integrated Learning (6 UOC), which provides practical industry experience through projects or internships. Overall, this structure allows students to complete two complementary degrees efficiently, combining strong mathematical and financial risk skills with modern information systems knowledge. Graduates are well prepared for careers in fintech, business analytics, systems consulting, insurance, and technology-driven financial services, with strong professional recognition and industry readiness.
