COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Urban and Regional Planning requires candidates to complete 96 credit points, with specific requirements depending on their admission rule. Candidates admitted under Rule A must complete 96 credit points, including no more than 18 credit points at the 100 level, no more than 18 at the 200 level, and at least 36 at the 500 level. Those admitted under Rule B or Rule C must also complete 96 credit points but must ensure that at least 36 credit points are at the 500 level, with additional credit counted as advanced standing based on prior qualifications. Each rule stream includes core units and options for either a coursework-only pathway or a dissertation pathway, allowing students to tailor their learning according to their academic interests and career goals. The dissertation option provides the opportunity to undertake supervised research, while the coursework pathway allows students to focus on advanced professional skills across planning-related disciplines. Advanced standing under Rules B and C recognises previous studies in relevant fields, reducing the volume of learning required.
