COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure is designed to provide a clear and flexible academic pathway for candidates seeking to qualify for the award by completing 72 credit points, including at least 48 credit points at the 500 level. It accommodates students with different academic backgrounds by offering pathways under Rule A and Rule B, each tailored to the prior qualifications of the candidate. Candidates admitted under Rule A, which applies to graduates holding either an Australian LLB or JD or a non-Australian LLB or JD, follow a structured combination of advanced standing, core units, and listed units. Those with an Australian LLB or JD may be granted specific advanced standing before progressing through the required higher-level units, while those with non-Australian qualifications undertake a similar structure that ensures they gain appropriate academic grounding and specialist legal knowledge needed for further study or professional development. Candidates admitted under Rule B may complete up to 24 credit points at the 300 level but must still meet the requirement of at least 48 credit points at the 500 level. Rule B also has two streams, one for Australian LLB or JD graduates and another for non-Australian graduates, each offering core units and listed units that allow candidates to tailor their learning to their professional goals or areas of interest. By offering multiple entry rules and clearly defined pathways, the program ensures that students with diverse educational histories can progress efficiently while developing advanced legal skills.
