COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Environmental Science and Management is structured to provide students with a comprehensive and flexible learning pathway that accommodates varying academic backgrounds and professional goals. To qualify for the award, all candidates admitted under Rule (a), (b), or (c) are required to complete a total of 96 credit points, which must include at least 36 credit points at the 500 level. The course is organised into three rule-based entry pathways, ensuring that students with different prior qualifications and experience can progress effectively. Under Rule A, candidates receive a combination of advanced standing, core units, and pathway options that allow them to develop both foundational and advanced knowledge in environmental science. Rule B similarly includes advanced standing, core units, and pathways, designed for students who enter the program with qualifications or experience that partially meet the course requirements, enabling them to focus on higher-level learning and applied skills. Rule C, known as the International Pathway, includes core units, foundation units, and academic pathways to support international candidates or those without prior discipline-specific experience, ensuring they acquire the necessary scientific and conceptual grounding before progressing to advanced coursework. Across all rules, the structure of the degree provides students with opportunities to refine their technical skills, deepen their conceptual understanding, and engage in applied learning within the environmental science and management fields. Students can choose units that align with their professional interests, career aspirations, or future research goals.
