COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Artificial Intelligence at UNE is a comprehensive postgraduate program designed to develop advanced expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven technologies. To qualify for the award, candidates must complete 96 credit points, including a minimum of 36 credit points at the 500 level, with a maximum of 12 credit points at the 600 level. The program is structured to provide a strong foundation in mathematics, programming, AI methodologies, and cybersecurity, while also offering opportunities to engage in research and applied projects. Core units for students admitted under Rule A include Mathematics for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Introduction to Programming and the UNIX Environment, Fundamentals of Cybersecurity and Privacy, Programming Paradigms, Software Project Management, Machine Learning with Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Algorithms in Machine Learning, and Statistical Learning. These units are designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing students to tackle complex AI problems, implement intelligent systems, and develop cutting-edge solutions across a range of industries. In addition to core coursework, students undertake a research or project capstone, allowing them to apply their learning to real-world challenges and gain experience in advanced problem-solving and innovation.Candidates admitted under Rules B and C follow similar pathways with advanced standing options, core units, and a research or project capstone, depending on their prior qualifications. This flexible structure accommodates students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, enabling them to upskill, pivot into AI-related fields, or specialise further following prior study. Graduates of the Master of Artificial Intelligence at UNE are equipped with a high level of technical competence, research capability, and practical experience, preparing them for leadership roles in AI, data science, software development, and emerging technology sectors. The program can be completed online or on campus, offering flexibility for students to balance study with work and other commitments.
