COURSE CURRICULUM

The Graduate Diploma in Psychology at UNE requires students to complete 60 credit points, including at least 18 credit points at the 400-level. The program is structured around a set of core units that provide comprehensive coverage of foundational and advanced psychological concepts. Students begin with Introductory Psychology I and II, which establish a base understanding of the discipline and its principles. Social Psychology explores human interaction, group dynamics, and the influence of society on individual behavior. Research Methods and Statistics equips students with the skills to design studies, analyze data, and interpret results, providing a foundation for evidence-based practice. Cognitive Psychology examines mental processes such as perception, memory, problem-solving, and decision-making, while Lifespan Developmental Psychology investigates physical, emotional, and cognitive growth across different stages of life. Psychopathology introduces the study of mental disorders, including their diagnosis, treatment, and the underlying psychological theories. Biopsychology focuses on the biological bases of behavior, linking brain function with psychological processes. Individual Differences and Assessment explores personality, intelligence, and the methods used to measure and understand variability among individuals. Advanced Research Methods and Statistics builds on prior research knowledge, allowing students to conduct complex analyses and apply rigorous scientific approaches to psychological questions. This program provides a pathway for students who have completed a degree in another discipline to gain the equivalent of an accredited undergraduate psychology major. It is designed to support progression into fourth-year psychology studies and further postgraduate training, preparing graduates for careers in research, clinical practice, or applied psychology roles.
