COURSE CURRICULUM

The Graduate Diploma in Psychology at UNE requires students to complete 60 credit points, including at least 18 credit points at the 400-level. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in psychology for students who have completed a degree in another discipline and wish to pursue professional psychology. The core units cover a wide range of fundamental topics, including Introductory Psychology I and II, Social Psychology, Research Methods and Statistics, Cognitive Psychology, and Lifespan Developmental Psychology. Advanced units include Psychopathology, Biopsychology, Individual Differences and Assessment, and Advanced Research Methods and Statistics. Together, these units equip students with essential knowledge of human behaviour, psychological research, and assessment techniques. Completion of this course prepares students to progress to fourth-year accredited psychology programs and provides a pathway toward a career in professional psychology. The course is offered online with flexible study options, allowing students to balance learning with other personal and professional commitments. Optional intensive schools on campus provide opportunities for face-to-face engagement, practical skill development, and direct interaction with academic staff. UNE also offers support services such as 24/7 access to tutors, rapid assignment feedback, and resources to strengthen academic skills, ensuring students can succeed in both online and on-campus learning environments. Graduates gain the theoretical understanding and practical skills necessary to apply psychological concepts and research methods in real-world contexts and to continue toward professional accreditation in psychology.
