COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure requires candidates to complete 144 credit points in total, ensuring a balanced progression through introductory to advanced study. Students may undertake no more than 60 credit points at the 100-level and must complete at least 36 credit points at the 300-level. The program includes 42 credit points of core units, divided across two core groups that provide foundational knowledge essential to social science study. Students must then complete one approved major, totalling 48 credit points, choosing from a wide range of fields including community services, counselling, criminology, linguistics, organisational management, politics and peace studies, studies in settler colonialism, psychology, social philosophy, sociology or urban and regional studies. In addition, candidates are required to complete 54 credit points of elective units, with at least 24 credit points taken at the 300-level. Electives may be selected from any unit offered by the university, provided prerequisites, course rules and timetabling requirements are met, allowing students to tailor their degree to their interests and career aspirations.
