COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Scientific Studies – Health Science Pathway requires students to complete 144 credit points, with limits on credit levels to ensure academic progression: no more than 60 credit points at the 100-level, at least 36 credit points at the 300-level, and up to 12 credit points at the 400-level. Students who have completed Year 12 Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics within the past four years may discuss substituting CHEM100, MTHS100 or PHYS100 with the Course Coordinator. Those intending to transfer into the Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours must satisfy specific transfer conditions, including completing key units (CHEM110 and MTHS110) and meeting minimum GPA requirements. All students complete 24 credit points of core units: CHEM100, MTHS100, PHYS100 and SCI100. They then undertake 24 credit points from a chosen Group 1 subject area, such as Agriculture, Computer Science, Exercise and Sports Science, Health Science, or other Science disciplines, with students able to exit early with a Diploma in Science after completing 48 credit points. This is followed by 36 credit points from Group 2 units, selected from one or multiple subject areas, with no more than 12 credit points at the 100-level. Students then complete a further 36 credit points from Group 3 units, again selected from one or more disciplines, with no more than 12 credit points at the 400-level. Additional elective options are available and detailed in the UNE Handbook, which also outlines course plans, intensive schools, exit awards, and placement requirements. Students are strongly encouraged to seek guidance from the Course Coordinator to ensure their program aligns with academic requirements and future study pathways.
