COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science requires students to complete 144 credit points, ensuring a balanced study load across foundational, intermediate and advanced levels. Students must complete no more than 60 credit points at 100-level, at least 36 credit points at 300-level, and no more than 12 credit points at 400-level within their major. Additionally, at least 12 credit points must be chosen from units outside the AFM, ARPA, BUS, ECON, GEPL, MM, PSYC and QM disciplines. Students may include up to 24 credit points from any units offered by the University, with a maximum of 12 at 100-level.Students who lack prior study in key areas are encouraged to build foundational knowledge before progressing. Those with limited Chemistry experience should complete CHEM100 before attempting CHEM110. Students without Year 12 HSC Mathematics, or equivalent, are strongly advised to study MTHS100 and MTHS110 (or MTHS110 alone) before enrolling in MTHS120 or STAT100. MTHS120 and MTHS130 are designed for students who have completed Mathematics Extension 1 or equivalent and are particularly suitable for Physical Science majors. Students who are new to Physics should consider PHYS100 before attempting PHYS131.To meet degree requirements, students may choose one of three study pathways: complete one approved major (42 credit points); complete one approved major plus one approved minor (66 credit points); or complete two approved majors (84 credit points). Majors are available across 17 disciplines, including Applied Physics, Genetics, Chemistry, Zoology, Data Science, Forensic Science, Mathematics and more. Students choosing a single major may add a minor in Business, Communications or Statistics. Elective units may be selected from any discipline, provided prerequisites and course rules are met.
