COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Media and Communications with Honours requires students to complete one unit valued at 48 credit points, consisting of both advanced coursework and a dissertation in their chosen media or communication field. The honours unit, HASS400H, introduces students to key pedagogical approaches in Media and Communication Studies, focusing on the techniques, principles and practices of communication, media, writing and related areas, while allowing students to select thesis methodologies in consultation with their supervisor. Honours candidates must engage in regular consultation with their supervisor, with the frequency and format of meetings determined jointly by the supervisor, the Head of School and the student before the start of each year; some consultations may require face-to-face attendance. Students are generally not permitted to enrol in other units at UNE or elsewhere during their honours candidature unless the course coordinator grants approval on the recommendation of the Head of School. To complete the degree, candidates must successfully complete the single core unit Honours in Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS400H) worth 48 credit points, with further course details, study plans and requirements available in the UNE Handbook.
