COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Economics requires the completion of 144 credit points, including no more than 60 credit points at the 100 level and at least 36 credit points at the 300 level. Students complete 48 credit points of core units covering foundational and intermediate economic theory, quantitative analysis and applied research, including Microeconomics I and II, Macroeconomics I and II, Australian Economic Institutions and Performance, Quantitative Skills with Applications, Business Statistics and the Economics in Practice capstone project. The remaining credit points are completed through majors, minors or elective units, allowing students to tailor the degree to their interests. Students may choose either two majors totalling 96 credit points, with each major including at least 24 credit points at the 300 level, or one major combined with two minors, with the major containing at least 24 credit points at the 300 level and each minor containing at least 12 credit points at the 300 level. Majors and minors are available in areas such as Agribusiness, Agricultural and Resource Economics, Economic Development, Economic Evaluation and Environmental Analysis and Policy, with an additional minor option in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. If students choose not to complete a minor, they may take 24 credit points of electives from any discipline, provided prerequisites and course requirements are met. This flexible structure enables students to combine economic studies with complementary fields and build a strong foundation for diverse career pathways.
