COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts requires students to complete 144 credit points, including 12 credit points of core units and a combination of either one major with one minor, or two majors. To qualify for the award, students must ensure their study plan includes no more than 60 credit points at the 100 level, at least 36 credit points at the 300 level, and no more than 12 credit points at the 400 level. Progression rules require students to complete the two core units, The Academic Practice of Research and Critical Analysis and The Craft of Academic Writing, within their first two trimesters of study, unless they receive advanced standing. Failure to meet this requirement may result in conditions being placed on their enrolment or potential discontinuation. Majors consist of 48 or 60 credit points, while minors consist of 24 credit points, with the option to replace the minor with a second major. Students can choose from a wide range of disciplines, including Ancient History, Archaeological Studies, Chinese, Classical Languages, Community Development, Community Planning, Community Services, Counselling, Criminology, English, French, Geography, German, History and Heritage, Indonesian, International Law, Italian, Japanese, Linguistics, Medieval and Modern Europe, Music, Peace Studies, Philosophy, Politics and International Relations, Psychology, Screen and Media Studies, Sociology, Spanish, Studies in Religion, Theatre and Digital Performance, and Writing. All majors except Counselling, Community Services and Psychology include an embedded minor, and some units may overlap between majors and minors but can only be counted toward one. Several majors, such as Music and Spanish, are offered online only. Elective units may also be selected to complete a student’s program, allowing additional flexibility and the chance to explore broad areas of interest.
