COURSE CURRICULUM

The course requires students to complete 144 credit points, ensuring balanced study across different levels with no more than 60 credit points at 100-level, at least 36 credit points at 300-level, and no more than 12 credit points at 400-level. The core component totals 72 credit points and provides a strong scientific foundation in animal studies. Students complete key units such as Animal Production Systems and Products, Animal Health and Reproduction, Animal Handling, Animal Physiology, Applied Animal Nutrition, Biochemistry and Microbiology for Rural Science, Introduction to Biology, Organisms and the Diversity of Life, Chemistry I, and Foundational Quantitative Methods for Environmental and Rural Sciences. These units collectively build essential skills in animal biology, health management, nutrition, physiology, laboratory techniques, and basic chemistry, which are crucial for advanced studies in animal science. In addition to the core units, students must complete 6 credit points from a set of additional chemistry-related options, choosing either Introductory Chemistry or Chemistry II depending on their background, interests and academic progression. This structure ensures that all graduates gain strong scientific knowledge and practical skills required for further specialization within the degree.
