COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure ensures students meet the accreditation requirements of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and CPA Australia through the completion of core units. Additional units LSSU350 and LSSU493 are required for students seeking accreditation with the Tax Practitioners Board as certified tax agents. To qualify as an auditor, the Corporations Act 2001 requires at least two years of study in commercial law alongside accounting, while registration as a liquidator requires prescribed qualifications that include study in commercial law. UNE’s units in Business Law (LSSU251) and Principles of Corporations Law (LSSU391) satisfy these requirements when both are completed. To graduate, students must complete 144 credit points, with no more than 60 credit points at 100-level and at least 36 credit points at 300-level. Under Rule A, candidates undertake core units, an approved major, an approved minor and elective units. Rule B applies to students admitted through Overseas Articulation Programs, including partners such as the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation and WUXI South Ocean College, while Rule C applies to students entering through Australian TAFE Articulation Programs.
