COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Screenwriting is an 18-month full-time, practice-based program (or 36 months part-time) designed for graduates and professionals with a passion for crafting audience-driven stories for film and television. The course combines rigorous creative training with industry engagement, equipping students with the professional skills, practical experience, and confidence needed to succeed in the screenwriting sector.Students develop their craft through a series of compulsory subjects that balance theory and practice. In the first semester, Storytelling Workshop introduces the fundamentals of narrative, character development, and dramatic structure, while Cinematic Writing and Writing for Television provide hands-on training in creating scripts for both feature films and television projects. In the second semester, students participate in the Script Development Hothouse, an intensive collaborative environment to refine and test ideas, and work on the Major Screenwriting Project, producing a polished, industry-ready script.The second year focuses on refining professional practice and understanding the industry context. Writing and Rewriting develops advanced revision skills, emphasizing the importance of crafting scripts that meet audience expectations and industry standards. The Business of Screenwriting offers insight into the commercial and professional aspects of the field, including pitching, development processes, and career management strategies.Throughout the program, students benefit from mentorship and guidance from experienced screenwriters, as well as exposure to visiting industry professionals.
