COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Music (Performance Teaching) is offered as a 1.5-year full-time or 3-year part-time program. It is designed to develop advanced technical skills on your chosen instrument or voice, while preparing you for professional-level teaching in a variety of music performance settings. The program focuses on fostering independent, reflective, motivated, and cooperative learning through a range of teaching approaches tailored to instrumental or vocal lessons.The course is structured to accommodate the workload and commitments of teaching musicians, providing flexibility in subject selection and delivery modes. Many subjects are now offered with online components to complement in-person learning. Classes are typically scheduled in the late afternoon or early evening to allow students to balance their teaching commitments and attend performances.For full-time students undertaking 50 credit points, the estimated workload ranges from 15 to 20 hours per week, including attendance, readings, assignments, and lessons. Actual workload may vary depending on task management, familiarity with the material, and individual reading and writing capacity. Additional support is available for students who require assistance with completing tasks, ensuring a tailored and manageable learning experience.
