The program requires completion of 100 credit points, with students from non-common law jurisdictions needing to take the Fundamentals of the Common Law subject. The minor thesis option involves completing four coursework subjects and a 50-credit thesis on an approved legal topic. The course structure supports working professionals, with subjects offered from February to December in formats that include intensive five-day sessions or weekly classes during the semester. Online delivery options include recorded lectures, live sessions, and interactive forums, while on-campus classes are held in a seminar style at the Law Building in Melbourne. However, international students are limited to taking no more than two online subjects, totaling 25 credit points. Full-time students typically complete the program in one year by enrolling in 50 credit points per semester, while part-time students take 25 credit points per semester and usually finish within two years. Students not enrolled in a given semester must formally apply for a leave of absence.
