COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of International Business at Melbourne Business School equips students with the knowledge and skills to excel in global business environments, particularly within the Asia-Pacific region. The program provides a strong foundation in strategic thinking for international operations and develops an understanding of how cross-border activities impact key functional areas such as marketing, finance, accounting, and human resource management. Students also gain insights into the policies governing the world trade and investment system, examining perspectives from individual countries, regional trade blocs, and supra-national institutions including the IMF, World Bank, and WTO. A cross-disciplinary approach is emphasised, encouraging students to analyse and solve complex international business challenges.The degree structure varies depending on prior study and advanced standing. The standard 200-point program comprises 16 subjects, including four foundation subjects, two core subjects, five discipline core subjects, three electives, and two capstone subjects. Students entering with 50 points of advanced standing complete a 150-point program of 12 subjects, which includes two core subjects, five discipline core subjects, three electives, and two capstone subjects. Students have the option to select up to three electives from the Master of International Relations or other early-career Master’s programs at Melbourne Business School, subject to approval, enabling them to tailor their studies to specific interests and career goals.High-achieving students may also undertake a dual degree program with select partner institutions. Graduates of the 150-point program can complete a dual degree in two years, earning the Master of International Business from Melbourne and either an MSc in Marketing Management from Bocconi University or an MSc in Global Supply Chain Management from HEC Montreal. For students enrolled in the 200-point program, dual degree completion requires 2.5 years of full-time study. Overall, the Master of International Business combines academic rigor, practical skills, and global exposure to prepare graduates for leadership roles in international business and management.
