COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Industrial Engineering is a two-year full-time program designed to develop advanced technical and managerial expertise for students preparing to become professional industrial engineers who optimise systems, processes and operations across a broad range of industries. Structured as a 200-point degree, it consists of fifteen core subjects and one elective, enabling students to build extensive knowledge and practical capabilities across areas such as manufacturing processes and technology, automation and IT, industrial systems and simulation, sustainable and life cycle engineering, industry digital transformation, optimisation strategies and business management. In the first year, students undertake foundational core subjects including Design and Manufacturing Practice, Manufacturing Processes and Technology, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Systems and Simulation, Operations and Process Management, Probability, Reliability and Quality, and Manufacturing Automation and IT, with the flexibility to choose one elective that aligns with their interests or career goals. In the second year, the curriculum builds on this foundation with industry-focused subjects such as Optimisation for Industry, Supply Chain Management, Economic Analysis for Engineers, Sustainable and Life Cycle Engineering and Industry Digital Transformation. A significant component of learning takes place through the Engineering Capstone Project, completed over two consecutive semesters, where students apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems, working individually or in teams to design solutions relevant to industry practice. This project-based experience strengthens problem-solving, innovation, project planning and technical communication skills, preparing graduates to address practical engineering challenges in diverse professional settings. The program positions students for engineering careers across manufacturing, logistics, supply chain management, operations, consulting, automation, technology development, and broader sectors where efficiency and optimisation are essential. Through applied learning, industry-aligned curriculum and a focus on sustainability and digital transformation, the Master of Industrial Engineering equips graduates with the ability to lead improvement initiatives, enhance productivity and contribute to organisational and technological advancement in both local and global contexts.
