COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Energy Systems is a 1.5-year full-time program designed for graduates with backgrounds in engineering, science, business, finance, or economics who are seeking to enter or transition into the energy sector. This interdisciplinary degree provides the skills necessary to analyse energy systems from technical, commercial, and policy perspectives, covering the full energy lifecycle including generation, storage, and delivery. Students develop a deep understanding of energy finance, economics, markets, and the functioning of both renewable and non-renewable energy systems.The course structure includes 150 credit points, made up of 100 points of core subjects and 50 points of electives. Core subjects provide foundational knowledge across both technical and business domains. These include Introduction to Energy Systems, Analysing Energy Systems, Electrical Power Systems, Financial Management, Non-Renewable Energy, Renewable Energy, Managerial Economics, and Energy Supply and Value Chains. Together, these subjects equip students with the ability to assess energy issues using engineering, financial, and policy-based approaches.A key feature of the program is its industry alignment. Students engage in real-world projects through partnerships with energy companies, distributors, market operators, and organisations focused on renewable and alternative energy sources. This practical experience helps bridge academic learning with current industry challenges, enhancing both knowledge and employability.Throughout the program, students are guided by academic experts in areas such as sustainable energy, hydrology, and energy systems modelling. The curriculum supports critical thinking and solution-focused learning to address urgent issues in energy access, sustainability, and infrastructure.Graduates of the Master of Energy Systems are well-prepared for roles in government, private sector energy firms, consulting, and research. They leave the program with the technical understanding, commercial insight, and strategic thinking needed to influence and lead in the evolving global energy landscape.
