COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Construction Management is structured as a flexible 2–3 year program, depending on your previous qualifications, and is designed to support both newcomers to the construction field and experienced professionals looking to advance their expertise. The course enables students to develop specialist skills through a combination of core subjects, specialisation subjects and electives that align with their career goals. Students entering the three-year stream, typically from non-construction backgrounds, begin with 100 points of foundational core subjects to build essential technical knowledge before progressing into their chosen specialisation. Those with prior study in related areas such as architecture or civil engineering may receive Advanced Standing for equivalent subjects and reduce the duration of their degree. The three-year program requires completion of 100 points of first-year core subjects, 125 points of core specialisation subjects, 25 points of specialisation electives and 50 points of multidisciplinary electives. Students who have already studied a construction major or equivalent subjects can enter directly into the two-year stream, where they complete 125 points of core specialisation subjects, 25 points of specialisation electives and 50 points of multidisciplinary electives. All students must choose one of three specialisations: Building, which focuses on construction planning, site management and contract administration; Cost Management, which prepares students for quantity surveying and financial control of construction projects; or Project Management, which centres on coordinating the building procurement process and leading projects on behalf of clients. Advanced Standing may be granted based on prior coursework relevance, which is assessed at the time of application using subject content, assessment structure, contact hours and credit values. This flexible structure ensures that each student can tailor their learning to develop advanced professional capabilities aligned with industry expectations and their personal career aspirations.
