COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Clinical Research equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to plan, implement, and translate research into clinical practice. Students develop a strong foundation in clinical research methodology, ethical responsibilities, project management, and knowledge translation, preparing them for careers in healthcare research. The program emphasizes hands-on experience through small classes, intensive study, and guidance from leading researchers.Students have the option to follow either a research thesis pathway or an industry project pathway in their final year. The research thesis pathway involves completing a Clinical Research Thesis, while the industry project pathway combines an Industry Project in Clinical Research with Advanced Clinical Trial Design. This flexibility allows students to align their final-year project with their career goals and interests.The program is closely connected to world-class partner organisations, including Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne Brain Centre, Florey Institute of Neuroscience, Royal Women’s Hospital, St Vincent’s, Northern Health, and Austin Health. These partnerships provide opportunities for students to gain practical experience and establish professional networks.Students completing the first year of the program (Graduate Certificate) receive Good Clinical Practice (GCP) accreditation, an internationally recognised standard required for conducting and managing clinical trials.The Master of Clinical Research requires completion of 125 points of core subjects and 25 points of elective subjects. The course is designed to be completed over one and a half years of full-time study, with part-time options available to suit individual commitments and career goals. Graduates leave with the expertise to conduct high-quality clinical research and apply findings effectively in healthcare settings.
