COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Architecture program is supported by a strong academic foundation, comprising more than thirty full-time academics and a wide network of leading industry practitioners, making it one of the most comprehensive programs within the Southeast-Asian and Australasian regions. This unique combination of academic expertise and professional engagement provides students with access to innovative research, contemporary design thinking and real-world architectural practice. The course is structured to develop creative, technical and critical capabilities, preparing graduates to influence architectural change through thoughtful design and evaluation of buildings in terms of their technical performance, aesthetic qualities and social and environmental impacts. A key feature of the program is the central emphasis on design, particularly within studio-based learning environments where students work on complex architectural problems that simulate professional conditions. Students also have opportunities to undertake research subjects, which can support progression toward doctoral studies, including a potential pathway to a PhD. The 300-point stream, designed for students entering the Master of Architecture from non-cognate fields, follows a structured three-year course plan beginning with foundational architectural knowledge. In the first year, students develop core capabilities through sequential studio subjects and foundational units such as Construction Methods, Design and Construction and Architectural Cultures. The second year advances design and technical expertise through studios C and D, Applied Architectural Technology, high-performance design principles and professional practice. During the third year, students undertake advanced design studio work, select electives aligned with career interests and complete a major Design Thesis, demonstrating comprehensive mastery of architectural practice. Through its rigorous curriculum and deep engagement with contemporary challenges, the program empowers graduates with the skills required to lead innovation in sustainable architecture, contribute to multidisciplinary design environments and shape the future of the built environment with informed, socially responsive and environmentally responsible design solutions.
