COURSE CURRICULUM

The PhD in Arts is primarily a research-based degree, requiring the completion of an 80,000 to 100,000-word thesis that presents original research findings. There is no compulsory coursework, but candidates may be required to complete up to 100 points of graduate-level subjects if deemed necessary by their supervisor to support their research. This could include methodology training, theoretical foundations, or discipline-specific knowledge. The program emphasizes independent research, with regular progress reviews, milestone presentations, and supervisory meetings. Candidates are expected to engage in scholarly activities such as publishing papers, attending workshops, and participating in faculty events. The curriculum is flexible, tailored to the individual's research topic, and may involve fieldwork, archival research, or data analysis depending on the specialisation. Completion involves an oral examination (viva voce) and thesis submission.
