COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science Advanced (Honours) is a four-year program that integrates study at a recognised institution in India with advanced coursework at the University of Melbourne. Students begin their studies in India, completing two years of prescribed courses equivalent to 200 credit points at Melbourne. This foundational stage covers the four major scientific disciplines – mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology – and ensures students have a strong grounding in scientific principles and methods before progressing to specialised study.Upon transfer to Australia, students undertake the remaining 200 credit points of study. This includes 25 credit points of Level 2 or 3 Breadth subjects, allowing for exploration of areas outside the core science focus. Students also complete 75 credit points of Level 3 science electives, which incorporate a 50 credit point major in a chosen field, providing depth and specialisation in their area of interest. Additionally, 75 credit points of Level 9 science electives enable advanced study and integration of knowledge across scientific disciplines. The program culminates with a 25 credit point Level 9 research subject, Science Research Project (Advanced), giving students the opportunity to conduct independent, practice-led research and develop skills essential for future scientific inquiry or postgraduate study.Students can choose from a wide range of majors during their final two years, including Agricultural Science, Animal Health and Disease, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Cell and Developmental Biology, Chemistry, Climate and Weather, Ecosystem Science, Food Science, Geography, Immunology, Infection and Immunity, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Physics, and Plant Science. Alternatively, students may select another Bachelor of Science major over an extended duration, allowing for further customisation of their degree. This structure equips students with both broad scientific knowledge and specialised expertise, preparing them for careers in research, industry, or further academic study.
