COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Music Theatre is a three-year, 300-point program designed to provide students with a comprehensive and practical foundation in singing, acting, and dancing, alongside professional and industry-focused skills. In the first year, students begin with compulsory subjects like Stories of Place, alongside core units in Music Theatre Contextual Studies 1 and Music Theatre Studio 1, complemented by breadth subjects that allow exploration of cross-disciplinary areas. Semester two continues this pattern with Music Theatre Contextual Studies 2 and Music Theatre Studio 2, helping students consolidate their foundational skills while maintaining breadth study opportunities.In the second year, students progress to combination and advanced studio work. Semester one includes Music Theatre Combination Skills 1 and Music Theatre Studio 3, while Semester two continues with Music Theatre Combination Skills 2 and Music Theatre Studio 4. Each semester includes breadth units that encourage exploration beyond core music theatre practice, supporting a well-rounded academic and artistic development. This year emphasizes integration of singing, acting, and dancing, preparing students for more complex performance work.The third year focuses on capstone experiences and industry readiness. Semester one includes Music Theatre Studio 5 and Production Studio 1, where students apply their cumulative skills in performance settings. Semester two concludes with Music Theatre Industry Skills, Music Theatre Studio 6, and Production Studio 2, ensuring students are equipped with professional capabilities and practical experience for a career in music theatre. By the end of the program, graduates will have developed strong technical proficiency, creative adaptability, and professional skills, along with a portfolio of performances and industry connections to launch their careers in the competitive music theatre sector.
