COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (Film and Television) is a three-year full-time degree designed to cultivate writer/directors with unique creative voices and comprehensive practical knowledge of film and television production. The program focuses on production-based, hands-on filmmaking and screen storytelling, combining theoretical learning with immersive studio and production experiences. Students have continual opportunities to develop and complete short film projects that meet industry standards, using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities under the mentorship of experienced academic and industry professionals.Throughout the course, students also take on key crewing roles in peer productions and engage in interdisciplinary collaborations with peers from Performing Arts, Music, Visual Art, Design, and Production, enriching their creative and technical skills. Studies in screen culture deepen students’ understanding of cinema and screen storytelling, emphasizing essential elements for filmmaking practice. The program culminates in the capstone subject, Screen Practice 3B, where students create a substantial short film at a professional level, showcasing their skills and creativity.Additionally, students can select breadth subjects each year from Fine Arts and Music disciplines or explore a wide range of cross-disciplinary studies across the broader University community. These breadth subjects enable students to expand their knowledge, develop new interests, and enhance skills that complement their core studies. Options include acting, animation, dance, production, screenwriting, theatre, visual art, music education, Indigenous knowledges, law, languages, psychology, social sciences, humanities, science, marketing, and more. This flexible and diverse academic approach prepares graduates for dynamic careers in film, television, and related creative industries.
