COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Professional Accounting program is structured to provide a comprehensive blend of foundation, core, specialisation, and elective units that equip students with advanced technical knowledge and practical skills in accounting, finance, and business management. Foundation units such as Accounting Systems and Reporting, Economics, Business Statistical Modelling, and Corporate Financial Management develop essential knowledge in accounting principles, economic theory, financial analysis, and quantitative methods. Core units build on this foundation with specialised topics including Forensic Accounting and Investigation, Company Auditing, Managerial Accounting, Taxation Principles and Planning, Financial Accounting and Theory, Accounting, Organisations and Society, Corporations and Contract Law, Accounting Capstone Mastery, and the Business Internship Project. These units ensure students gain practical experience, critical thinking skills, and a deep understanding of professional accounting practices.The program also incorporates CAANZ cross-institutional units, which provide additional professional recognition and exposure to industry standards through a series of four units designed in collaboration with the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. Specialisation units allow students to tailor their studies to specific areas of interest within accounting and finance. Additionally, elective units such as Frontiers in FinTech, Applied Financial Services Project, Innovative Finance 2.0: Blockchain, Quantum, and Cyber Security, Financial Markets and Sustainability, AI for Finance and Accounting, and Data Science for Business enable students to explore emerging trends, technological advancements, and data-driven approaches in finance and accounting.Together, this combination of units equips graduates with the expertise required for leadership roles in accounting, finance, and related industries, fostering technical proficiency, strategic thinking, and innovative problem-solving capabilities.
