COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering Science consists of core units that develop advanced research, technical, and professional skills for engineering practice. Engineering Project Management (CSM80006) focuses on the principles and techniques required to plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects effectively, including risk management, resource allocation, and project evaluation. Professional Practice in Engineering (EAT80003) prepares students for the ethical, regulatory, and workplace expectations of professional engineers, fostering practical skills and industry awareness. Research Methods (ICT80011) equips students with the methodological tools and analytical techniques needed to conduct rigorous engineering research. The Engineering Master Major Thesis (ENG80002), a substantial 50-credit-point unit, provides an opportunity for independent research, allowing students to investigate complex engineering problems, apply theoretical knowledge, and contribute original findings to their field. In addition to these core units, students select specialisation units tailored to their chosen area of engineering, enabling them to gain deeper expertise and practical skills in disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, civil, or telecommunications engineering. Collectively, these units prepare graduates to undertake professional engineering roles, lead technical projects, and engage in innovative research that addresses industry and societal challenges.
