COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Dietetics program comprises a comprehensive suite of core units designed to develop advanced knowledge and practical skills across clinical, community, and public health nutrition. Applied Nutrition Science (DET60001) and Food Science and Systems (DET60002) provide foundational knowledge in the science of nutrition and the functioning of food systems. Community and Public Health Nutrition (DET60004) focuses on promoting health and nutrition at a population level. Research and Evidence-Based Practice units A through D (DET60005, DET70004, DET80002, DET80005) develop skills in research methodologies, critical appraisal, and applying evidence to dietetic practice.Nutrition Assessment and Diagnosis (DET60006) and Nutrition Education and Counselling (DET70002) equip students with the skills to assess nutritional needs and provide effective guidance. Medical Nutrition Therapy A and B (DET70003, DET80001) focus on clinical interventions for managing diet-related conditions. Entrepreneurial Dietetic Practice (DET80006) prepares graduates to apply leadership, innovation, and business skills in private practice or consultancy. Food Service Management Placement (DET80007) develops competencies in managing nutrition services in institutional or community settings.Practical placements form a core part of the program, with Clinical Dietetics Placement 1 and 2 (DET80003, DET80008) and Public Health Nutrition Placement (DET80004) providing hands-on experience in professional settings, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts. Collectively, these units prepare graduates to become skilled, research-informed dietitians capable of promoting health, implementing effective nutrition interventions, and leading in diverse dietetic and health-related environments.
