The Master of Architecture and Urban Design program includes a comprehensive set of core units that build advanced skills in design, planning, and urban analysis. The course structure integrates both theoretical and practical components, enabling students to explore how architectural design and urban development interact within contemporary city environments. Key theoretical foundations are covered in Theories of Buildings and Cities (ARC70004) and Urban Economics, Planning and Urban Design (ARC80006), which examine the relationship between architecture, economics, and urban growth. Technical and analytical proficiency is developed through Dynamic Modelling of Cities (ARC80001) and Urban Informatics and Modelling (ARC70005), where students learn to use data-driven tools and digital technologies for urban analysis and simulation. Sustainable Construction and Documentation (ARC80004) focuses on environmentally responsible design and construction practices, emphasizing sustainability in urban development. The program’s creative and research-based design skills are developed progressively through the Design Research Studio sequence—A (ARC70001), B (ARC70003), C (ARC80002), and D (ARC80003)—which allows students to engage with complex real-world projects, from conceptualization to execution. Professional practice and management aspects are addressed through Professional Practice Management (ARC70002) and Professional Practice (ARC80005), preparing students for leadership roles in architectural and urban design professions. Additionally, Planning Law, Strategic and Statutory Planning (ARC80007) introduces students to the legal and regulatory frameworks that guide urban development.
