The Bachelor of Arts program includes a range of core and elective units designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in social, cultural, and media studies while developing practical and analytical skills. The unit Grand Challenges - Industrial Revolution to Digital Age (ART10003) examines major historical and technological transformations and their impact on society. Introduction to Media Studies (MDA10009) and Media Content Development (JOU10009) provide foundational knowledge of media theory, practices, and creative production. Popular Culture (SOC10016) explores social and cultural trends and their influence on communities, while Applied Communication (COM10009) develops essential skills for effective professional and interpersonal communication. Indigenous Studies (INS10003) offers insights into Indigenous histories, perspectives, and contributions, fostering cultural understanding and competency.Students also choose two elective units to tailor their learning according to their interests. Options include Global Media Industries (MDA10010), which examines the international media landscape; Introduction to Power in the Digital Age (PHI10009), exploring the intersection of technology, society, and influence; Introduction to Innovation in Science and Technology (MDA10011), focusing on technological development and creative problem-solving; and Introduction to Environment and Society (SOC10015), which addresses environmental issues and their social implications.Together, these core and elective units provide a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and critical thinking, preparing students for a wide range of professional opportunities.
