COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care at Swinburne University comprises 12 core units and 3 elective units, designed to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for working in early childhood settings. The core units focus on essential competencies, including managing team effectiveness (BSBTWK502), maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children (CHCECE041), fostering holistic learning and wellbeing (CHCECE042), nurturing creativity (CHCECE043), facilitating compliance in education and care services (CHCECE044), and promoting positive interactions and behaviour in children (CHCECE045). Additional core units develop skills in inclusion (CHCECE046), using information to inform learning (CHCECE047), planning and implementing curriculum (CHCECE048), embedding environmental responsibility (CHCECE049), collaborating with families (CHCECE050), and reflecting to improve professional practice (CHCPRP003).Students also choose three electives to tailor their learning, which may include supporting the learning and development of teams and individuals (BSBHRM413), developing and using emotional intelligence (BSBPEF502), or responding to grievances and complaints within the service (CHCECE053).
