COURSE CURRICULUM

A psychology degree with a neuroscience specialisation provides a comprehensive and engaging pathway for students interested in understanding the biological and cognitive foundations of human behaviour. In the first year, students build a strong base with core units such as Brain and Behaviour, Fundamentals of Psychology, and Introduction to Research Methods, alongside foundational statistics and neuroscience courses. This combination equips students with essential skills in experimental design, data analysis, and critical thinking while introducing them to the tools and concepts of cognitive neuroscience. In the second year, the curriculum deepens with advanced topics including Developmental Psychology, Sensation, Perception and Attention, Cognition and Human Performance, and Social Psychology. Students gain hands-on experience with clinical and experimental applications of neuroimaging techniques, allowing them to directly apply theory to practice and strengthen their research competencies. By the third year, students undertake a Psychology Project, focused on an area of individual research interest, while completing units in the Psychology of Personality, Hunger, Sex and Sleep, Measurement, Data, and Analytics in Cognitive Neuroscience, and Psychophysiology. The second semester includes advanced studies in History and Philosophy of Psychology, Mental Health Diversity, Diagnosis and Treatment, Developmental, Educational, and Social Neuroscience, and further psychophysiology research, enabling students to integrate practical experience with theoretical understanding. Throughout the degree, students develop expertise in neuroimaging, experimental methods, and cognitive neuroscience analysis, positioning them for careers in psychology, neuroscience, healthcare, and research. This program also provides a strong foundation for specialised postgraduate study, preparing graduates to contribute to innovative research and professional practice.
