COURSE CURRICULUM

The indicative sequence for the Bachelor of Health Science for Semester 1, 2026 outlines a structured pathway for students to develop foundational knowledge, specialised skills, and professional experience in health science and healthcare technologies. Students are advised to use the study plan template available via their student portal alongside their course planner to organise their studies, noting that the sequence may vary depending on advanced standing or exemptions, and that unit offerings may change over time. In the first year, students complete core units including Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to Health Sciences, Digital Health Foundations, and Foundations of Statistics in Semester 1, followed by Brain and Behaviour, Artificial Intelligence for Industry 4.0, and electives in Semester 2. These units provide a strong foundation in human biology, health principles, data analysis, and the integration of AI technologies in health.In the second year, students advance into major-focused units such as Data Science Principles, Communicating with AI, Health and Disease Across the Life Course, Artificial Intelligence Transformation of Health, and Health Data and Information Management, alongside electives. These units build specialised knowledge in data-driven health practices, AI applications in healthcare, and the management of health information systems.The program also incorporates professional placement opportunities to provide real-world experience. Students may choose a major 12-month placement, including Work Experience in Industry A and B with Integrated Professional Placement A and B in Health, or a minor six-month placement covering Work Experience in Industry A and Integrated Professional Placement A. These placements allow students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings, develop professional skills, and build industry networks.In the third year, students complete advanced units such as Research Methods for Health Science, Ethics and Legal Implications of Artificial Intelligence, Health Informatics, Applied Artificial Intelligence in Health, and the Health Sciences Project, along with electives.
