COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to improve the health, fitness, and performance of individuals and teams. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in anatomy and physiology, nutrition, psychology of sport and exercise, and core exercise science principles. This equips them with an understanding of how the body moves, adapts, and responds to physical activity, alongside the psychological factors that influence performance. In the second year, students progress to applied topics such as biomechanics, exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, clinical and sports movement analysis, and exercise prescription. These units combine theory with hands-on practice, using cutting-edge technology including wearable sensors, virtual reality, and 3D motion capture systems to analyse movement and performance. The third year focuses on professional experience, research, and advanced application. Students complete industry placements to gain practical experience and build professional networks, undertake research projects to develop analytical and problem-solving skills, and study specialised topics such as exercise for complex and chronic conditions, performance analysis, and exercise interventions for health and disease. Elective units throughout the degree allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests, such as elite sport, digital fitness, or rehabilitation. Graduates leave prepared for careers as exercise physiologists, sports scientists, strength and conditioning coaches, fitness consultants, or wellness coordinators, and have pathways to further study in clinical exercise, physiotherapy, or advanced sports science research. By integrating scientific knowledge, applied practice, and innovative technology, the degree ensures students are equipped to meet the demands of the evolving exercise and sport industry, helping individuals and teams achieve optimal health, fitness, and performance outcomes.
