COURSE CURRICULUM

The indicative sequence for the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Professional) for Semester 1, 2026, is designed to provide a balanced mix of foundational theory, practical projects, and professional experience to prepare students for careers in engineering. In the early stages, students develop essential technical knowledge through core units such as Humanitarian Engineering Design Project (ENG10001), Engineering Materials (ENG10002), Preliminary Mathematics (MTH00007), Energy and Motion (PHY10001), Introduction to Programming (COS10009), Technology in an Indigenous Context Project (COS10025), Engineering Mechanics (ENG10003), Linear Algebra and Applications (MTH10013), and Calculus and Applications (MTH10012). These units build analytical, problem-solving, and engineering design skills necessary for all engineering disciplines.As students progress, they engage in specialized, hands-on projects tailored to their chosen major. This includes Engineering Technology Project A and B (EAT40005/EAT40006 for Software majors; ENG40007/ENG40008 for Biomedical, Electrical, or Robotics majors) and Final Year Capstone Projects 1 and 2 (ENG40005/ENG40006 for Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, or Product Design majors). These projects allow students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical contexts, develop critical thinking, and tackle complex engineering problems.A cornerstone of the professional program is the 12-month integrated work placement. Students complete Work Experience in Industry A and B (WEI20001, WEI20002) alongside academic units Integrated Professional Placement A and B (ENG20003, ENG20004). This full-time, paid industry experience provides exposure to real-world engineering projects, develops professional skills, and builds strong industry connections.By combining core theory, project-based learning, and extended industry placements, this program ensures graduates acquire technical expertise, practical experience, and professional readiness to succeed in their chosen engineering discipline and make meaningful contributions to the engineering industry.
